Although Microsoft is still standing by its decision to limit the availability of Windows 10 upgrades to devices that have 1GB of RAM, it seems strange that certain devices, such as the Lumia Icon, didn’t get Windows 10 update.

Lumia Icon is being considered for Windows 10 Mobile upgrade

Microsoft has made an already bad situation worse by stating there are no plans for a second wave of Windows 10 Mobile updates. This means only previously selected devices will be eligible for Windows 10 Mobile update. To top it off, it appears that the Lumia 1020, 925, 920 aren’t going to get Windows 10 Mobile at all. Currently, the following Lumia devices are suited for the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade: 1520, 930, 640, 640XL, 730, 735, 830, 532, 535, 540, 635 1GB, 636 1GB, 638 1GB, 430 and 435. As for eligible non-Lumia devices, the list includes the BLU Win HD w510u, BLU Win HD LTE x150q, and MCJ Madosma Q501. Judging by previous Microsoft’s statements, the list of supported devices will remain unchanged for now. Many users are wondering why the Lumia Icon isn’t on the list of eligible devices, and rightfully so. The Lumia Icon has almost identical hardware specs as Lumia 930, leaving many owners perplexed about the decision to exclude it from a Windows 10 Mobile update. Even though the Lumia Icon isn’t currently eligible for a Windows 10 Mobile upgrade, that might change in near future. According to the recent tweet by Gabriel Aul, the Lumia Icon is being considered for Windows 10 upgrade:

— Gabriel Aul (@GabeAul) March 18, 2016 So far, it’s unknown whether Microsoft will actually release Windows 10 Mobile for Lumia Icon, but we’re keeping our hopes up. We have to admit, it’s a bit odd for Microsoft to exclude the Lumia Icon from the list of supported devices, but we hope Microsoft will remedy this confusion in near future.
